Free Verse Poem – Tiredness

Free Verse Poem – Tiredness

Bad things happen when you are tired, they say
Just let me be for now, I need to rest.
Rest a little, but you must keep moving
there is no time to spend wastefully.

Exhaustion slowly taking over my tired mind
Show me the way to solitude please. I need it
It is hours that I have been lying here awake
a dream coming on, I’m in a hopeless state

A perfect place to sleep in those shadows
My insecurities within the tiredness show
Sleep didn’t honour me with it’s presence
So I will follow you, which way do I go now.

What is Free Verse Poetry? – No limitations – What is the difference between blank verse and free verse? The difference is in the structure. Both blank verse and free verse are free from rhyme scheme. But, whereas blank verse does have a consistent meter, usually iambic pentameter, that creates a du-DUM rhythm effect, free verse is free from both meter and rhyme. It is free from the limitations of verse poetry.

Erosion Everywhere

Erosion Everywhere

Erosion is everywhere
whether it’s in ones life
or part of nature’s moods
the eating away of land
the sea on coastal belts
falling of timber trees
eating away protection
of dangerous gases
floating around the air
polluting the world

Maybe a spider web broken
that’s erosion of its home
How many more homes
to disappear from one’s life
So much misery for humans
manners have changed
no please or thank you’s
These days human bodies
are slowing showing the
effects of a life of erosion.

Destruction is everywhere
leaders of the country
forever changing rules
life hanging on a thread.
Too many guns around
schools work under stress
every day children suffer
erosion of their little lives
not knowing what to do
the laws need repairing.

Early in the Morning

Early in the Morning

The silence just before dawn

pause and enjoy the moment

sharpness of an early morning

quietly piercing the inner soul

every day dawn is different

listen carefully, not a sound

beautiful wonderful feeling

let it wrap around the body

slight mist on the steep hills

fog rising from the still river

no distractions joy and peace

tranquility is a real blessing

fragrance from the garden

some a little smelly, mildew

sweet smell of honeysuckle

as the sun starts to warm up

the environment preserved

a few moments of quietness

deep within the now quiescent

intimacy of my still warm body

spiritual moment,

body filled with confidence.

A Walk Around the Lake

A Walk Around the Lake

With the mind silent while approaching the marshlands,
there seemed to be a little magic all around in the air,
standing beside me, bright eyes sparkling down at me,
was the man that has walked beside me for sixty years.

The sun was sinking casting a shadow across the lake
if only we were a generation younger and more active,
magic was still there, that we had felt for so many years.
Mindfulness came, playing full attention to the setting sun.

The language of the lake was seeping into my body and soul
as a black swan slowing swam by, not even noticing us,
the scent of the colourful wild flowers slowly disappeared
as the night air floated in and the stars started to appear.

The calmness of the lake flowed through my veins and heart,
peace was all around me, as we made our way back home.
The lake was starting to look very dark and dangerous,
safe, hands clasped together, our love was felt as one.

Free Form Poetry – MAGIC is Everywhere

Free Form Poetry – MAGIC is Everywhere

sunset or sunrise

hiding in all the little nooks

all around the world

you will find MAGIC

the music of the wind

whispering in the trees

buzzing of the bees

birds singing in the treetops

MAGIC is everywhere

flowers nodding their head

just look around in the shadows

the laughter of children

believe in magic you will find it.
